Pro Mujer Announces New Strategy to Scale Impact and Support More Women in Latin America

As part of its efforts to continue supporting women’s equality in Latin America and in response to a constantly shifting demographic and socio-economic context, Pro Mujer has announced a new organizational strategy with the objective of impacting the lives of more than 5 million women by 2030.

Founded in Bolivia more than 35 years ago, Pro Mujer has worked tirelessly to advance gender equality in Latin America and give women the tools they need to reach their full potential. However, despite progress, women in the region continue to face structural barriers that limit their development.

In the face of these ongoing challenges, as well as technological and demographic shifts, Pro Mujer is reaffirming its commitment to women in Latin America and adapting its strategy to their current needs.

With an eye on the future and a commitment to maintaining its closeness with local communities, the organization is shifting to a model focused on digitization and strategic partnerships. It will also continue developing hybrid and blended education programs to ensure no woman is left behind.

Multiplying our Impact

During its 35 years of operations, Pro Mujer has generated a concrete impact in Latin America, providing 10 million health services, disbursing more than US$4.4 billion in loans, and supporting the development of 2.5 million women in more than 20 countries. Over 100,000 women have received training, mentoring, and access to a regional support network through Emprende Pro Mujer, a digital platform for entrepreneurial training that has allowed them to strengthen their businesses and progress toward economic autonomy.

In this new era of the organization, Pro Mujer will use a digital-first approach to scale its impact regardless of physical proximity, breaking down geographical barriers and ensuring that more women in Latin America can access the tools they need to transform their lives and become agents of change.

The organization’s new strategy is based on the following objectives:

  • Multiply the impact of Emprende Pro Mujer, a digital skilling and education platform designed specifically for women entrepreneurs seeking economic autonomy.
  • Provide online and in-person preventive health services and connect women with an ecosystem of health solutions to manage the diseases that most impact their lives.
  • Forge partnerships with fintech and financial organizations aligned with Pro Mujer’s mission to drive women’s financial inclusion.
  • Continue to support gender mainstreaming in the private, public, and investment sectors by providing technical assistance and consultancy services through the Pro Mujer Gender Knowledge Lab.
  • Redouble advocacy and leadership initiatives, ensuring that gender lens investing is included in the regional public policy agenda.

“Women’s needs have evolved, and so Pro Mujer is also evolving,” said Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer. “We will continue to innovate and work side-by-side with the women we support, ensuring every woman has the tools to reach her full potential and become an agent of change. Working to advance gender equality is not a fad—it’s essential to improving the lives of millions of women in Latin America.”
