Title: Intern, Communications
Reporting To: Manager, Marketing/Communications
Location: New York City
Compensation: See Terms and Conditions
Semester: All-year-round Opportunity

We are looking for a talented intern to act as a key support for Pro Mujer’s Communications team. This position offers an opportunity to learn valuable communications and marketing skills while engaging with important issues of gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft blogs, articles and media pitches/op-eds, and other materials as needed;
  • Monitor relevant international and national news stories;
  • Research latest data and reports on a variety of topics from gender-based violence to fintech trends;
  • Update Pro Mujer’s website(s) with relevant news and stories and materials. Suffer high indices of chronic diseases;
  • Create social media content for English-focused channels, working closely with Pro Mujer’s Community Manager;
  • Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or Graduate student interested in Communications, Journalism, international, marketing or a related field (Master’s preferred);
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish;
  • Graphic design skills and experience producing digital/print marketing materials;
  • Strong research and critical thinking skills;
  • Demonstrated experience with social media, experience writing blog articles and social media posts;
  • Comfortable assisting in a variety of projects at once, and have the ability to work on individual and team projects;
  • Ready to learn, take guidance, support project development & administration, and manage deadlines;
  • Creative, optimistic, eager to learn, can-do spirit;
  • Passionate about women’s empowerment and Latin America;
  • Bilingual in both Spanish and English.

Terms and Conditions:

  • A small stipend will be provided;
  • School credit can be arranged with the candidate’s educational institution to support the fulfillment of academic credit and/or requirements;
  • A minimum of 20 hours per week is required, and must be committed to the full semester (or term 3 months minimum);
  • Pro Mujer also offers the opportunity to arrange a year-round internship, if interested.
