Pro Mujer Expands its Clinic Network to Reach Thousands of Women in Mexico

Supporting women’s health is a critical component of building prosperous and sustainable societies and is a crucial contributor to gender equality and women’s equal participation across all social and economic spheres.

However, thousands of women in the region continue to die from preventable causes, and access to timely and quality health services continues to be limited for women in vulnerable situations, for example, in the metropolitan area of the Valle de México, where 37.5% of women live in conditions of vulnerability and poverty.

According to data published by INEGI, 32.9 million women don’t have access to the health care system, with 32% of this total concentrated in the State of Mexico (Edomex), Mexico City (CDMX), and Jalisco.

As part of our efforts to create a positive impact and expand women’s access to health and wellness services, Pro Mujer opened two health clinics in 2023, one located in Jardines de Morelos in the State of Mexico and the other in the national office located in the Gustavo A. Madero borough of Mexico City.

Pro Mujer staff at these two clinics will offer low-cost medical check-ups and treatments to women and their families. Additionally, various screening programs will be progressively incorporated to provide risk assessment for chronic non-communicable diseases.

The two new clinics represent the consolidation of various preventive health and telemedicine programs previously implemented in Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina, and Nicaragua. Pro Mujer has provided more than 10 million health services to women in Latin America.
