Strengthening the Future of Women Entrepreneurs in El Salvador with the Support of Google.org

With the opening of its offices in El Salvador, Google has reaffirmed its commitment to technological and social development in the country. In this context, Google, through its philanthropic arm Google.org, made a donation of $200,000 to Pro Mujer to boost the development of more than 250 Salvadoran women entrepreneurs by providing them with leadership training, digital skills, business management, and financing opportunities.

This alliance is all the more relevant given that in El Salvador 62.7% of women live in households without Internet access (U.N. Women). At Pro Mujer, we understand that the gender digital gap limits women from reaching their full potential, so having the support of strategic allies like Google.org allows us to expand our reach in the region.

In 2023, our entrepreneurial training platform reached El Salvador in its hybrid modality. Through an intersectional framework that considers the particular characteristics of our participants, Emprende Pro Mujer incorporates face-to-face and virtual sessions to reach vulnerable women in marginalized areas and with low levels of digital literacy. Since its implementation, more than 178 Salvadoran women entrepreneurs have successfully graduated from the program.

“This collaboration with Google.org is a testament to our shared dedication to the entrepreneurs of the region. Thanks to Google’s support, we are expanding our capabilities to ensure that women not only participate in the economy, but also truly thrive and lead in it,” said Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer.

Our work with Google.org has strengthened our ability to make an impact beyond our initial borders. Thanks to this strategic partner, we have been able to expand our empowerment model to regions such as southeastern Mexico and extend it through Central America.

We thank Google.org for their unwavering commitment to improving opportunities for women, and we are excited to be part of this milestone, which allows us to envision a future where the dreams of every Salvadoran woman entrepreneur can come true.
