With the support of Google.org, Pro Mujer implemented a regional initiative designed to strengthen economic autonomy and transform the realities of women entrepreneurs in Latin America by integrating business training, access to financing, and digital innovation.
The project was carried out between 2022 and 2025 in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, and Argentina, achieving and surpassing 100% of its original targets and laying the foundation for a scalable, gender-responsive economic inclusion model.
A Regional Model Based on Evidence and Territorial Adaptation
From the outset, Google.org’s support enabled Pro Mujer to design an intervention grounded in diagnostic studies, contextual analysis, and applied evidence. Mexico served as a design and validation laboratory, generating key learnings that were later adapted and scaled across Central America and the Southern Cone.
The portfolio adopted a modular and progressive approach, segmenting women based on their level of business maturity and digital literacy. Within this framework, the Emprende Pro Mujer entrepreneurial training platform became a central pillar in strengthening business capabilities in a flexible and context-responsive manner.
Through its digital and hybrid modalities — combining in-person training with digital tools — the platform adapted content to different levels of digital literacy and local realities. The project strengthened key skills such as business planning, cost management, pricing, marketing, digitalization, and business resilience, prioritizing replicable methodologies and train-the-trainer models.
Recognizing that training without financing limits impact, access to credit was a core component of the model. For thousands of women, it represented entry into the formal financial system, enabling not only capital investment in their businesses but also the development of credit history and greater future eligibility. By integrating financing with training and digital tools, the project transformed learning into real business expansion, fostering more sustainable, resilient enterprises with long-term growth potential.
Additionally, the development of information and communication ecosystems was a key component of the initiative. Communication campaigns and digital platforms expanded the project’s reach, reduced information barriers, and positioned strategic content around women’s economic participation, contributing to a more enabling environment for financial and productive inclusion.
Results Combining Scale, Quality, and Impact
- 4,490+ women trained (133% of the original target)
- 12,420+ women gained direct access to credit, including seed capital schemes
- 51,700+ people reached through communication campaigns on financial inclusion and economic rights
Beyond quantitative indicators, the project generated long-term strategic capacities, including replicable hybrid and digital methodologies, strengthened local and regional partnerships, and applied evidence to inform decision-making.
“The experience demonstrates that combining training with access to financing and digital tools not only expands reach but also generates deeper and more sustainable transformations,” said Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer.
