Pro Mujer and Clínicas del Azúcar Join Forces to Prevent Diabetes in Underserved Women

Pro Mujer and Clínicas del Azúcar proudly formalized a strategic partnership during the GLI Forum Latam 2025 to improve access to healthcare services for underserved Mexican women.

The partnership focuses on detecting, preventing, and providing comprehensive care for diabetes, a leading cause of death in the region. According to the World Health Organization, 112 million adults in the Americas are living with diabetes, representing 13% of the adult population. This figure is nearly four times higher than the number of adults with diabetes in 1990. The Pan American Health Organization estimates that 43 million people over 30 lack access to adequate diabetes treatment, and that 40% of those affected are undiagnosed, hindering monitoring and control efforts.

The partnership between Pro Mujer and Clínicas del Azúcar aims to employ an innovative and inclusive approach to bridge access gaps. As part of this initiative, Pro Mujer will provide access to its Diabetes Risk Calculator, a digital tool that helps identify women at risk of developing the disease. Women will then be able to access a free medical consultation and a screening test at any Clínicas del Azúcar branch nationwide.

In the event of diagnosis, women will be offered access to low-cost care packages to ensure access to affordable and high-quality medical follow-up. Both organizations will collaborate on communications and outreach to improve health education and promote the responsible handling of personal data in accordance with current legislation.

This agreement, signed by Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer, and Javier Lozano, CEO and Co-founder of Clínicas del Azúcar, represents a concrete step towards health equality and the empowerment of women in Latin America.
