Avanza Sólido and Pro Mujer Strengthen Partnership to Increase Women’s Financial Inclusion in Mexico

Pro Mujer, a social enterprise with more than 35 years of experience working to advance gender equality in Latin America, and Avanza Sólido, a microfinance committed to responsible finance, sustainability, financial inclusion, and gender equity, announced plans to strengthen their strategic partnership to expand Mexican women’s access to responsible financial services that support their economic and social development.

In a context where women face structural barriers that limit their access to formal financial services, this partnership is a necessary and impactful response to an urgent issue. According to the 2021 National Financial Inclusion Survey (ENIF) conducted by the Mexican National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI), 39% of women in Mexico reported that they owned no financial products, and less than half (45%) had access to a savings account. This financial inclusion gap limits women’s economic autonomy and represents a significant opportunity for the financial sector. According to projections by the Inter-American Development Bank, serving unattended or underserved women has the potential to generate US$1.87 billion in revenue for the Mexican financial sector.

At Pro Mujer, we know that real change happens when we work together,” said Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer. “We deeply value this partnership with Avanza Sólido, which reflects our shared commitment to promoting women’s financial inclusion. True sustainable change isn’t achieved alone; it requires collaboration that aligns initiatives and resources.”

For his part, Oscar Cruz Torres, founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Avanza Sólido, emphasized: “At Avanza Sólido, we believe that responsible finance is the foundation for building a sustainable future. Boosting women’s financial inclusion fosters their economic development and supports more resilient and equitable communities. This partnership with Pro Mujer reflects our commitment to creating financial solutions that respond to women’s real needs and generate a long-term positive impact.”

Iván de Jesús de la Cruz Gómez, General Director of Avanza Sólido, added: “Strategic partnerships are essential to maximize impact and generate tangible opportunities for women. This partnership with Pro Mujer strengthens our commitment to responsible finance and shows that sustainable solutions can close the financial gap and build a more inclusive and equitable society.”

This partnership fosters an environment where more women have access to more and better opportunities to strengthen their autonomy and well-being, while also promoting sustainable and responsible economic growth.
