More women from northern Argentina will receive free mammograms

In Latin America, breast cancer is recorded as the leading critical cause of cancer death according to the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). In Argentina, every year, over 22,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed, and around 7,000 women die, according to figures from the National Government. Therefore, Pro Mujer’s commitment to accompany and advise Argentine women during their process of detecting and treating this disease remains firm.

In line with this, and thanks to the partnership with Mamotest and a donation from the Avon Foundation, 40 free mammograms will be performed in the town of Roque Saenz Peña, Chaco, in northern Argentina, during July 2024.

So far, women in northern Argentina have benefited from sessions in which 108 Pap smears and 150 free mammograms have been performed, and it is expected that by the end of 2024, the combined figure will have reached 300, mainly in the Jujuy province.

This campaign is part of Pro Mujer’s initiatives to boost education and awareness around breast cancer, and thus strengthen women’s autonomy to identify risk factors, or when facing this disease.

At Pro Mujer, we believe that health is the foundation upon which the comprehensive well-being of women is built. That’s why we are committed to expanding access to health services, empowering women to reach their full potential, and becoming change agents in their communities. Under this premise, in Argentina we have provided more than 95,300 health services, promoting healthy lifestyle habits, preventing diseases, and offering comprehensive medical care.
