Women entrepreneurs play a fundamental role in the transformation of their communities. Throughout history, they have shown an extraordinary ability to recognize business opportunities, to generate employment, and to contribute to economic and social development. However, they often face unique challenges and barriers that make it difficult for them to access the financing and the resources they need to grow their businesses.
It is crucial that financial institutions work and invest in favor of gender equality and in support of women entrepreneurs. Banco de Crédito de Bolivia SA has demonstrated a clear commitment to gender equality and to the empowerment of women through programs and services that promote their financial inclusion and their participation in the economy.
5,259 women have been trained through our program Ellas—in partnership with Fundación Emprender Futuro and Taller 24E—on subjects related to leadership, empowerment, sales, and financial education. We also encourage the purchase of products from these entrepreneurs within the organization.
Furthermore, BCP strives to promote gender equality within the organization, encouraging the participation of women in leadership positions and decision-making roles, with clear succession objectives under the Gender + Talent formula. We generate initiatives such as the creation of training and professional development programs for women within the organization, the “unstoppables,” as well as the implementation of policies and practices that promote gender equality and diversity in the workplace. What is more, our organization has zero tolerance for workplace and sexual harassment; we have policies and clear communication in place to prevent cases of harassment and to create a safe environment for all our associates. We know that, to achieve true change in society, it is essential that women have equal opportunities in all areas.
Additionally, the bank supports women’s access to financial services and to opportunities for economic development, thus contributing to the strengthening of their capacities and to their empowerment in Bolivia, by offering a transaction channel to women entrepreneurs—such is the case of the mobile wallet YAPE.
In conclusion, women entrepreneurs are agents of change in their communities and generate a positive impact on the economy and on society as a whole. It is essential to work and invest in favor of gender equality and in support of women entrepreneurs, to enhance their development and to contribute to the well-being of all.
Together, we can build a more just and equal future for everyone.
