Grupo Ficohsa, a Honduran group with a presence in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, and the United States, is committed to investing more in providing financial services that support women-owned businesses.
Grupo Ficohsa supports nearly 25,000 small and medium-size enterprises, and seeks to double its SME loan portfolio to $910 million within 5 (five) years, prioritizing the growth of women-led businesses through preferential loans, insurance, and financial education.
Mujeres Adelante (Women Forward): paving the way for financial inclusion and entrepreneurship
Ficohsa’s Mujeres Adelante program is experiencing unprecedented growth in Honduras, and is now expanding to Guatemala. The program provides women-led businesses with preferential loans, insurance and savings accounts, and financial literacy training.
The value proposition also includes a range of non-financial services, which promote initiatives based on recognition, education, access to information, spaces at fairs, and networking, among others, designed especially to connect with the needs of Honduran women.
By equipping women with financial tools and knowledge, they are empowered to become the protagonists of their own success stories. Supporting entrepreneurs is key to economic growth and the creation of opportunities in the Central American region.
Commitment to the Women’s Empowerment Principles
In 2023, it reaffirmed its dedication to gender equality by adhering to the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and the Global Compact, committing the group to creating even more opportunities for its female employees and customers.
These principles guide companies in promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace.
Digitalization: Bridging the gender gap in technology
The “Mujer Digital (Digital Woman)” program, which is a collaborative effort with Junior Achievement and the Inter-American Development Bank, seeks to empower 7,500 women in vulnerable situations by providing them with socioemotional training, job skills, and technical certifications. Grupo Ficohsa’s commitment to the project includes the provision of three-month internships to support the development of practical skills and work experience for the participants.
This program assists in addressing gender inequality in the region. Empowering women with digital skills not only improves employability, but also boosts innovation and technology in our countries.
Corporate policies: Diversity, Equality and Inclusion
Grupo Ficohsa has a Regional Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Committee who are leaders that understand these values for the teams, the business, and the clients.
Together with the Committee, Juntos sin Etiquetas (Together without Labels) works hand in hand with a group of collaborators who, on a voluntary basis, promote actions that contribute to advancing the proposed objectives.
The Regional Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Policy aims to achieve an enabling environment that facilitates and enhances equality of opportunity and treatment, non-discrimination, diversity, equality, and inclusion.
