Pro Mujer recently announced new initiatives focused on expanding the impact of Emprende Pro Mujer, the online entrepreneurial training program that has already changed the lives of 42,000 women in 23 countries in Latin America. In collaboration with three strategic partners, Universidad Fuerza Migrante (UFM), Fondo Mujer Emprende, and Fundación Reservas del País, we are fortifying our commitment to addressing the critical challenges that impact women, strengthen local communities, and generate a positive and lasting impact in the region.
Emprende Pro Mujer offers access to free educational content adapted to the stage of each user’s business (from ideation to scaling) and enables women to strengthen their digital, leadership, management, finance, sales, and personal development skills. Emprende Pro Mujer users also receive personalized mentoring and can connect with other entrepreneurs and business leaders from Latin America, building a network and improving their performance.
Users report that the Emprende Pro Mujer program has changed their lives, with 99% reporting improved entrepreneurial skills, 80% reporting that they could start saving money, and 20% reporting that they increased their sales during the program.
Carmen Correa, CEO of Pro Mujer, was pleased to welcome representatives from each organization to the fourth edition of the GLI Forum LatAm, the premier gender lens investing event in Latin America, dedicated to positioning gender lens investing as an effective driver of equality and economic development in the region.
As part of our efforts to expand into Colombia, Pro Mujer will work with Fondo Mujer Emprende to impact the lives of more than 2,000 women in the country, enabling them to boost their skills and accelerate the growth of their businesses while generating inclusive economic growth.
“Financial education is critical to promoting gender equality and improving women’s financial security throughout their lives,” said María Fernanda Reyes, Director of Fondo Mujer Emprende. “Fondo Mujer Emprende, in partnership with Pro Mujer, is launching this program to reduce the gender gap and increase women’s economic independence and financial decision-making power.”
And we’re not stopping with Colombia! Pro Mujer is also collaborating with Fundación Reservas del País, a leading organization in the Dominican Republic that facilitates access to financing for microenterprises via cooperative and non-profit structures.
The two organizations will work together to support Dominican micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises by bringing Emprende Pro Mujer to the country. Women will also be able to access the virtual education platform created by Fundación Reservas del País, which offers information and skill-building focused on financial management.
In addition to its expansion in Latin America, Pro Mujer is also launching Emprende Pro Mujer in the United States. To maximize the impact on Latina entrepreneurs in the U.S., we’ve developed a new module designed specifically for migrant women. The module includes a psychosocial component and approaches learning from an intersectional perspective that considers the particularities of each woman’s context.
As part of our efforts to include more women in the training opportunities and to ensure their correct implementation and monitoring, Universidad Fuerza Migrante (UFM) will collaborate with us to provide access to the Emprende Pro Mujer platform and provide close and reliable support. UFM is a bi-national organization that advocates and promotes the economic, social, and political empowerment of new generations of Mexican migrants and Mexican-Americans in the United States and Mexico through education and civic participation.
