Gillian Shepherd Mestre

Gillian Shepherd Mestre is a physician practicing under the name Gillian Shepherd, M.D. She is a specialist in Allergy and Immunology and a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. From 1983-95 she directed the adult Allergy and Immunology Clinical Service at New York Presbyterian Hospital- Cornell. Currently she maintains a private practice and has been listed in every edition of “America’s Top Doctors”. She has written extensively on adverse reactions to drugs and other therapeutics.

Gillian is also a consultant to the FDA and several biotechnology companies and is the author of “What’s in the air?” (Pocket Books, 2002). Dr. Shepherd has been very involved with the American Academy of Allergy Asthma and Immunology (AAAAI), the main international organization for her specialty. She has been on the Board of Directors and chaired multiple committees including oversight of all educational activities of the organization.

Gillian has also chaired the Allergy Research Trust, which awards grants to support her specialty. In 2007 she went to Mongolia as the first visiting professor for the International Educational Exchange of the AAAAI. She is also past President of the New York Allergy Society and a past trustee of the Spence School and Choate Rosemary Hall. In 2010 she was awarded an honorary doctorate from her alma mater, Wheaton College.
