Pro Mujer in Peru Celebrates International Women’s Day with Multi-City Health Campaign

Ahead of International Women’s Day, Pro Mujer in Peru organized a series of marches in the cities of Puno, Juliaca, Ilo and Moquegua. Nearly 600 Pro Mujer clients, their children, friends and family members joined in the marches to celebrate women’s achievements and promote the importance of their health and healthy lifestyles.

At the end of the marches, Pro Mujer health staff offered free basic health care services, including blood pressure tests to detect hypertension, body weight measurements, dental care services, as well as general preventive health education.

Considering many women come to Pro Mujer not comfortable expressing themselves in public or feeling like they even have a right to speak their minds, it was particularly inspiring to see so many strong women band together and raise their voices.
