More than 130,000 people are part of Pro Mujer’s community in Bolivia. For many, accessing financial services provided by Pro Mujer is a first step to developing their potential and changing their lives. Recently, Pro Mujer held art and community fairs in Patcamaya, a rural area of Bolivia, to support the community.
Pro Mujer is creating new innovative programs to bring financial literacy and health education to communities in El Alto, the second-largest city in Bolivia, where Pro Mujer started 30 years ago. Through theater, communities are learning about a variety of topics on health, finance and gender-based violence prevention.
These initiatives build on Pro Mujer’s over 30 years of experience working in Bolivia and focus on providing comprehensive financial, health, training and entrepreneurship support for women so that they can reach their full potential.
“Every woman who thrives with us, both financially and personally, has written the history of Pro Mujer, because it is human ties and a solid social network that constitute our DNA. We are really excited about the community’s response to these programs. We want to ensure we keep providing these spaces so women can continue growing,” shared Cecilia Campero, Country Representative for Pro Mujer.
After the theater performances, attendees were able to visit booths with financial services information, connect with Pro Mujer community health workers to receive non-communicable diseases screenings, and speak with promoters on preventing gender-based violence.
