New York, NY (February 24, 2020)
Pro Mujer, a leading social enterprise in Latin America, announced today the appointment of Carmen Correa as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Correa brings to the role more than thirty years of experience in business operational management, strategic planning and program execution with a focus on sustainable development and the promotion of social impact entrepreneurship in Latin America.
Prior to this appointment, Correa served at Pro Mujer as Chief Regional Officer, acting as a key representative for the organization’s growing partnership network in the Latin America region, and overseeing the implementation of key programs to deliver health, financial inclusion and educational services to more than 250,000 underserved women.
As COO, Correa will report to President and CEO of Pro Mujer, Maria Cavalcanti, who commented, “Carmen’s wealth of experience in social impact and entrepreneurship has been instrumental to growing Pro Mujer’s impact in this sector and expanding our network of allies in Latin America and abroad. Serving as Chief Operating Officer is a natural next step to the invaluable contributions she has already made to Pro Mujer as Chief Regional Officer, where she demonstrated a results-driven leadership style and inspiring passion for women’s empowerment.”
Correa holds substantial experience in designing new financing instruments for enterprises and building relationships among NGO’s, corporations and impact businesses to create sustainable development in the region. As Program Director at Fundación AVINA, an organization that promotes alliances between social and business leaders, she led the Impact Business team at a continental level. Additionally, she served as Executive Director for Endeavor International, a non-profit organization that supports high impact entrepreneurs.
