New York, NY – September, 2018 – Pro Mujer, a leading women’s development organization in Latin America, announced the appointment of Marisol Fernandez as global business development director. Fernandez brings to Pro Mujer more than 20 years of experience with a brilliant background leading capstone projects in both, the public and private sectors. Fernandez’s major accomplishments include her leading role in the definition of legislation and regulation of the financial sector and microfinance in Bolivia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Tanzania and Mozambique, working as a consultant for multilateral organizations.
Fernandez has extensive experience leading and implementing seamless liquidation and settlement processes for financial entities in Bolivia, guiding and overseeing the expansion and -better- positioning of key players in the microfinance ecosystem such as Oikocredit. Marisol brings a remarkable reputation of ongoing effectiveness in the public sector, having been a member of different corporate governance bodies of financial entities (Banco FIE and Banco de la Comunidad), contributing in the development and implementation of their risk management systems and corporate social responsibility programs.
“Solid experience of having worked in both the public and private sectors, has given me a global and wide vision of the market and the opportunities it provides. This has strengthened me to advance into the development of Pro Mujer’s various business areas without losing sight of challenges to overcome in each country where Pro Mujer operates today and where we will be in the future, per our CEO’s vision”.
Fernandez will take full charge of her new role by focusing on operations on Pro Mujer’s business side, and harnessing opportunities for expansion and the optimization of both health and financial services.
